Isn't it wonderful? Watch and SEETHE, Mr Bush, as your power structures are disassembled before everyone's eyes!!!

Obama's taking some very positive steps, but I'll be happier when he's undone some of Chimpy McChimppants' executive power grabs. Maybe an EO invalidating all of shrubby's signing statements and some sort of abolishment of them, say. Stuff like that.

Yeah- I'm hoping the (non)"Patriot Act" will be next up on the firing line...

I recall someone observing that Bush used executive orders to get a lot of his stuff done, because that bypassed all the difficulty of getting proper legislation passed. The problem with working that way is that laws would've outlived his administration, but executive orders evaporate at the pleasure of the new executive. Built quick and cheap, but not to last.

Gee, almost sounds like he WANTED things to crumble to dust after he left, doesn't it?

I take it you're not familiar with the phrase "permanent Republican majority"?

Hey, the last guy kept insisting that torture was legal and the prisoners had no rights, and commanding his underlings to continue. Now they can still continue, but it's mutiny.

There's an important difference.

Some of the things that they define as torture, I've undergone as a part of CAC training.

I'm not in favour of torture, but they're hyper-sensitive to -anything- that subjects people with valuable information to discomfort.

"Some of the things" maybe.

But they use real torture, too. Not everyone who objects to disobeying the geneva convention, using cruel and unusual acts to gain information (in a method proven to be unreliable) is hypersensitive.

Nor did I suggest that real torture did not occur.

Also, your assertion that torture and harsh interrogation techniques has been proven ineffective is entirely incorrect. They are useful in some situations, and not as useful in others. Morally reprehensible, perhaps. But quite effective.

I'd go into further detail, but I really can't.
