That should not be as disturbing as it is.

I think part of the disturbing appearance is due to the unusual looking movements of the two on the right.

I think the creepiest one is the one in the back.

YEah, those would be the parents, defending against a threat by trying to look bigger and More Threatening. (Like those beaks wouldn't be enough?)

what's with the one in the background looking like he's saying, "Come Esse, want a piece of me? I dare you!"

There are no gods out there to save you.

Only them.

ONLY THEM

I am vaguely reminded of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4VNMERVsC4 only with more, y'know, whole rodent swallowing.

I wish this went on for a few seconds more so I could confirm whether the owl on the left had indeed managed to swallow the rodent, or whether, as it looks like, it was slightly too big. I'd love to see an extended version that has rodent-swallowing owl stuck in a "OK, now what?" situation, while the the right-hand owls carry on miming to the Back Street Boys (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBlCtqsat-w)

That is amazing. I don't know which baby I like best, the one jawing in the background, the two waving their heads, or the one choking down the rat.

Nature is too cool. This makes me rather sad we don't have owls in our neighborhood.

They're like Japanese demons. Like the one with the Noh mask in Spirited Away, No-Face.

It took me at least 10 lj visits to notice the one scarfing down a small mammal...
