I have a question. Where do these harlequin-type backgrounds originate? Lately I've seen a lot of image macros with four squares/diamonds of varying colours in the background.

I think it's mostly Inspiring Dog, who came out of, of all places, Zoolander and the "OBEY MY DOG!" hypnosis scene.
