I know for a fact that that sort of collar will not stay on a gerbil. You have to have a harness and even then, they'll squirm out pretty easily. Also, for some reason my gerbils find whatever the plastic on the stylus button very tasty. If I leave it out on the desk when they're wandering around, they always chew on it.
