oh that is awesome...I think it also says something about the healthcare in my country that out of all of the countries that are reporting large outbreaks the only two with reported deaths are Mexico and the US
So even though over a hundred people per day on average die from ordinary influenza-related illnesses (90% of them over the age of 65), we're going to hear about every single identified case of this thing wherever it crops up, even though:
1. It's no more or less severe than an ordinary flu.
2. It's no more or less fatal than an ordinary flu.
3. It's just as treatable as an ordinary flu (which could change, admittedly, but the odds of it mutating into something beyond the boundaries of modern science are freaking minuscule).
I mean, it's nice that the WHO and CDC are urging the public to keep it from spreading by doing stuff that should be freaking common sense, but this is really the dumbest "emergency" I've ever heard of.
Of all the things that can kill you in the world over the next year, it probably doesn't rank in the top 1,000. Or hell, the top 10,000.
I don't think they can cover anything up. Human organizations are so terrible at what they do they can't find their asses with both hands, a flashlight and a map.
