Saturday: Baby's first vet visit and obedience lesson.
Sunday: Baby's first TWELVE HOURS GETTING KICKED BY A POINTER PUPPY (which was hilarious) followed by live lobster hand-delivered to my front door direct from Halifax Harbour.
Monday: Homemade curry and baby spent the whole day lying very still and not moving very fast due to exhaustion

My weekend ruled. You?

Friday I spun in Toronto at Z. Good crowd. Was much fun. Beer, music and friends always welcome.

Saturday, was shopping on Queen W and Trek movie. Both were a great time. Did end up with two parking tickets. One legit one I would fight if I lived in Toronto.

Sunday was lunch with Aunt and Uncle before making a drive back to Ottawa for a great night sleep.

After what was, apparently, a "difficult" delivery to the point of redefining the term!

I'm glad you and Arlene and Maya are doing well, seriously, man.

I see a little bug doing a figure-eight around the words on the left-hand side of your paragraph. Why is this?

I worked. As weekends go, it was uneventful. Believe it or not, that's high praise.

Mainly I wanted to say that you found a really cool icon. I almost wanted to swat it away.

Badly, from what I can see. He's programmed it as a background image in a table using CSS. Pretty sure a Div would've done the job with a lot less code.

That does appear to be the case, although you'd need a few more lines for it to show properly.

I brute-forced it because CSS is a strange foreign language.

Aye, it's like German—once you understand the underlying logic and look back, it's fairly simple, but until you do it's a weird collection of stuff that sometimes works as expected.

I'm building the CSS for my Dreamwidth layout from scratch. Sometimes, I've directly copied the code from elsewhere, like my LJ, and it does something completely different.

Regardless. Tables=Wrong. Virtually always. It might even've been better to do your entry as a UL or OL, I think you can even define values as days of the week. Ignore me, I'm talking bollocks again.

"Wrong" tends to imply some kind of meaningful standard beyond "it works for my Livejournal post."

My HTML-fu is something like 15 years out of date. Tables are just the simplest, fastest way for me to set background colours and images.

table, tr, td.../td, /tr, /table.

div.../div

You put the image there with CSS—if you were using an HTML background image I'd agree, but divs and spans are simply easier.

Would be a valid response if we're talking about a dataset. Or even a complex layout that needs something positioned just right.

But for a background image? Besides, John's used CSS, he just put in three nested elements instead of one.

Regardless, these days I find coding tables takes too long, I just want to get on with it (and CSS tables work quite well for some designs). Then, I'm a strict amateur.

Saturday: Watched good friend mount a draft horse, while wearing full armor, and gallop full-tilt, wielding a lance, at another person armored, mounted and armed likewise. And then do that seven times more. Right after some mounted melee.

Did not have heart attack. Have videos.

Sunday: Puttered around, worked, then went dancing. That was nice.

So overall, good weekend.

Friday: Got up at 3:20 AM to catch a bus to New York City. 3:30 pm, walking in Manhattan. 5 PM, buying a rock in a little shop of horrors, freaky stuff and naturalized critters.

Saturday: Gawking at Times Square followed by spending all day at the Bronx Zoo and walking across Central Park. Acquired blisters on feet.

Sunday: Empire State Building, Central Park Zoo, Fao Schwatrz, lunch in Trump Tower, Disney Store and long bus ride back to Montreal. Home after midnight.
