Gun nuts are like Trekkies, only slightly more dangerous.

I disagree. Trekkies are far more dangerous than us gun nuts.

I guess gun nuts don't get married in hunting vests or have a reading of the Second Amendment before the vows...

That's merely wierd, not dangerous.

A gun nut properly secures their weapon. Trekkies, on the other hand, have ba'THleth (or however they are spelled), which are the most dangerous, unwieldy, and useless pieces of armament ever devised. A broadsword is safer and a stick is more effective.

But neither a stick nor a broadsword will kill an intruder via a fit of giggles.

I mean, seriously, have you ever seen your average trekkie wield one of those? HY-LARIOUS.

The part that was leagally a gun was wood. Who cares if the parts that matter to an ordinary person were metal. In the eyes of the law that was a wooden gun. I think it was a cool project.

Yeah, me too.

And thinking of suggesting it to my friend who loves AR-15s. Just in case, you know, he ever needs yet ANOTHER project.

If he makes a place for the buffer spring to go, and he uses a properly manufactured upper, it should work fine. At least for a few mags. The manufactured upper would support the chamber and bolt.

Neat project, though I'd retire it before it inevitably fails in a (potentially) spectacular manner.

Check out the second page. It did work, he did get it to fire, repeatedly. The wood eventually broke, after several shots. Not full mags, single shots.

There are pics!

This is what I get for skimming the first page.

That's pretty cool, if short lived.
