That should become the standard demonstration of responsible gun ownership, to be repeated as often as possible. It will save the gun registry millions of dollars.
To protect them? Really? Because I'd say that if they're stupid enough to point a firearm at their head and pull the trigger EVER, then they're destined to have their life cut short in one way or another.
People who do shit like that are also the ones who use a hair dryer while in a full bathtub.
To give the guy credit... he *THOUGHT* the gun was unloaded... for that he gets 0.00000001% credit. It's like the second-stupidest possible way to demonstrate gun safety by the way, second only to pointing it at someone *else* and pulling the trigger.
Of course a gun owner who's willing to point a gun at his head and pull the trigger without making sure a gun isn't loaded? That's pretty much the definition of someone not qualified to talk about gun safety.
It does make you wonder what the last thing to go through his head was...
I don't know - if he was planning to kill himself anyway, this was probably the most useful way to do it. The ultimate in gun safety instruction. (Although he should have arranged for it to be videotaped as well.) Hopefully he had also registered as an organ donor.
Of course, there is also the possibility that he might just have been stupid. Bit late to ask now.
