Agreed. But he came out of nowhere as a candidate (my party for reasons obscure don't put up candidates for the mayoralty as there's a position to abolish the position) so no one was expecting him to win, or even critiquing his policies—even he didn't expect to win.

Toby runs a comedy club at night, he's very good at messing with people. I dunno if any of his stuff is online but his story about getting banned froma whole chain of supermarkets is fantastic.
The BBC were focused on the expenses scandal rather than the elections. I know a lot of people (sensible educated people) in Doncaster who didn't know there were any elections.
