Aside: Are you aware that "I get what I want this time, and you'll get what you want next time" is also known as "a compromise"?

Compromise means giving up on getting everything in favour of getting *something*.

For example, by deciding to give each person exactly what they want one at a time, taking turns, while all others get nothing until it's their turn to get everything. That's a compromise.

It would also, apparently, be *your* "happy middle ground".

("No compromise" would be "I get everything the way I want it, all the time." A *failed* compromise would be "nobody gets anything they want", which appears to usually be your big worry.)

My old high school history teacher maintained that a sign of a good compromise was that both sides went away unhappy.

If I wrote that into a novel, my friends would tell me to take it out, it's unbelievable.

nonfiction has the benefit of not having to be realistic.

The Leopold and Leob act really loses something when furries are involved.

Surely it must be possible to get his penis bitten off without killing anyone else. The connection seems rather hazy. I really doubt it is patterned on any animal on this planet, either.

I know it's not the case, but it feels like 'Furry' is becoming the new 'Goth', in the sense that A. a lot of fucked up things are popping up in the news about it, and B. a lot of young people are joining it due to the subversive-yet-accepting nature that it gives off, and so this invites all sorts of crazies.

The geek hierarchy clearly shows that all geeks look down on furries, even the writers of slash fanfic.

Oh wait, there's something lower than furries...holy crap.

There's a great thread on rpg.net about how furries are totally not weird at all. this is going to be great fodder.

They were members on the forum I run. I dislike the inference that all furries are demented parent-killers who fuck animals and want their dicks chewed off. Cos I'm not any of those things.

I feel I should point out that nowhere in the article or comments until your post has anyone inferred that furries fuck animals.

Fair enough, I read two articles on the same subject of which one of them was the one mentioned. And in that one it said that one of the guys liked to sleep with his dog.

And it's a general comment usually stated by people who don't know any better, which I was commenting on too.

Seconded. You get a few messed up people in any group. See gamers, goths, geeks, etc. There will always be the odd psychopath who gives the rest a bad name.
