Bah, no fair changing what he's talking about. I mean I understand since hurricanes are a Florida thing and would give it away, but at the same time, part of the reason I voted Ohio is that "main street" feels like more of an Ohio thing to me.

(To be fair I probably would have voted Ohio anyhow, since it has the crazy-for-jeebus angle, but still.)

Hurricanes would make it too easy. "A magic amulet that keeps wild elephants from rampaging down main street" is traditional.

Well yeah, I did say hurricanes would give it away. I guess I've just never heard the traditional "elephants down main street" thing though (or not enough to make it seem like a cliche), so it just threw me. :p

Ha, knew it.

There's always some high-profile dipshit in Florida who starts praying very publicly at the start of hurricane season.

See, I guessed my not-so-beloved home state because we get all the best Jeebus nuts. Guess we had to share the wealth once in a while.

No-test of my "Guess the State" skills, as I'd already heard of the story in question.

-- Steve's wondering if he can tie his Halo gaming to the absence of civilization-ending meteorites using the same "logic".

I've always heard that as a "rock that keeps tigers away". :)

Look! Mine works PERFECTLY.

Guys - religion. Not religious at all, just crazy, Ohio. Very religious, still crazy, Florida. I have been disappointed all of 5% of the time following this system.

I love the results of the poll in the story.

Or like that Georgian governor who prayed for rain during a drought a couple years ago... so then a storm came a couple days later and tore up a church.
