When I was a young reprobate I used to hang out at a small park adjacent to a bowling alley. There was a woman with nails that long who belonged to one of the local leagues. She had her bowling ball specially drilled to accommodate them.
Mine aren't anywhere near that long, but I've been used to having longish nails on my strumming hand for so long that I often find myself wondering how people without long nails manage to pick up things like sewing needles resting on a flat surface, etc. (I usually have these thoughts a day or two after breaking a nail, when I fail at picking something up.)
And yes, they are my guitar picks, and yes, the other hand is trimmed short (except for the thumbnail, which is my box-cutter/letter-opener (and occasionally utility-knife -- I've sawed drywall with it)).
Bowling seems like asking for trouble though, with nails as long as in this photo, even with a modified ball. I'd be very interested in seeing slow-motion footage of her release, 'cause that sort of detail fascinates me.
Nowhere near this long, but I've kept long, pointed nails for many years now. They really are extremely convenient, and they don't break all that often. Though when they do, it takes a while to adjust my typing again. :P
