Its 40km/hr in Melbourne (Aust), between 8 & 9 and 2 & 4. Even on major highways. Drives me nuts. What happened to "look left, look right, look left again, GET RUN OVER AND REMOVED FROM THE GENE POOL IF YOU'RE STUPID"
Yes damn those schools! Making motorists add up to a WHOLE MINUTE to their drive time in order to lesson the chances of accidently running over an 8-year old...
On the major road into the city? With a footbridge over the road? And two pedestrian crossings? Its not like there's a slippery bank on both sides of the road and some sort of puppy gun shooting cute furry animals out onto the road to attract them...
There's a 40 around my place, its not such a big deal because its suburban streets. Its the 70->40 in peak hour that gets my goat.
The horrible cruelty of it all. A potentially minor increase in travel time just to allow children going to or from school to be safer. Why must you suffer so? WHY!?!
