I disagree.

Texans have a HEALTHY sense of irony. Our politicians, however...

If they didn't have a sense of irony before, I'd think that Perry would have inadvertently taught it to them by now.

The problem is that they heard irony and thought that was how you described clothes that have been pressed.

And the 9/12 people told the Metro people there were only going to be 5-10 thousand knuckleheads attending the event, which didn't warrant any capacity increase.

I think they must have evolved some sort of flame-resistent covering, because the irony does not burn them.

The even greater irony here is that Metro doesn't get much federal funding, so the conservatives can't bitch about how Metro is an example of a failed taxpayer-funded project. Metro is pretty far from "socialist" and instead is an example of what happens when you build a public infrastructure and then have no system of funding to support it.

Metro gets most of its money from ad revenue and fares; Virginia, Maryland, and DC occasionally throw money at it, but in amounts insufficient to deal with Metro's operating costs. Metro is reduced to constantly begging for money and almost always operates on a deficit.

This year's fatal crash between Takoma Park and Fort Totten could possibly have been prevented had Metro had the funding to do proper inspections.

Token wiki link explaining Metro's bizzare funding system is here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_Metropolitan_Area_Transit_Authority#Funding).

Boy, do I wish Metro were tax-funded. It does the best it can with the shitty funding it's got, and all in all it's a good system. WMATA doesn't need some shit representative from Texas haranguing them about a few put-out teabaggers.

In conclusion, fuck that guy.

In my town, they had their anti-tax tea parties on the lawn of a National Monument. The National Park System is funded by what?

Yeesh. People is dumb.
