Depends on which version you've read/seen, remember- Disney made the entire apple one color. Only a few places where can you find the version where the apple is split, and the witch eats the red cheek while Snow White gets the poisoned green cheek.
Worse, Disney took out the two prior visits from the witch with the poisoned comb and the ribbons laced too tightly- and the dwarves saving her each time ... so when they boxed her up, unable to figure out what was wrong- it made them look like doofuses!
As I recall, in Disney, the prince woke her up BEFORE taking her home, too, making him look like much less of a necrophiliac.
Whereas the original went more like DWARVES: "Er, your majesty... why are you taking the corpse of our beautiful Snow White back to your castle?" PRINCE: "Because I'm IN LOVE with her." PALLBEARERS: *trip* SNOW WHITE: *cough* PALLBEARERS AND DWARVES: "oh look, she's awake!" PRINCE: "damn. I mean... aaaawesome..."
Yeah- and THEN there was what they did to the evil stepmother/witch! "Here, put on these heated-till-red-hot iron shoes, and dance in them till you fall down dead." O_O
Like the article says, if the whole branch had these apples, they could propagate whole trees of half and half fruit. They would also become quite rich, as you can imagine little toddlers the world over instantly deciding to eat nothing else :D
