I'd like to see you convicted with no bodies, no relatives complaining of a lost loved one and no forensic evidence.

Yeah, only my voluntary and unforced, unsought confession, on tape.

People say the darndest shit sometimes...

Pretty sure that wouldn't be anywhere near enough to convict him. Or anyone else, for that matter.

Do you think one voice in Iraq saying they've lost a loved one would be heard?

I did wonder that. I think capital crime convictions without evidence is a bad idea, and two juries of Marines agreed.

The two who were acquitted had only one witness to their alleged crime: this guy. However, his voluntary, unsolicited, uncoerced confession carries a hell of a lot of weight.

This guy said "Yes, I committed a crime. I killed innocent people - me and these two other guys. We did it knowingly and with malice aforethought. Here are the dates, times, and details."

The other two guys? Denied it, and that left the only evidence against them being that this guy said they did, and all his details checked out.

(Also: The concept of "capital crimes" is really fucking weird.)

John Mark Karr is also an innocent man.

Considering the fact that, so far in this case, he's the one they had the most on I'm surprised they were able to get even that much. I mean, two of the others are accused and still in the military; at least they were able to get him out.
