My in-laws are interracial, and have been together for approaching 51 years.

Hah, just seeing the blurry still frame of Wilder's side, I knew what the line was going to be. Of course.

Miscegination is a word that's well past needing to be retired to the oubliette, with mullato and quadroon, etc.

This racism scheisse is getting ridiculous; the attempts by the great white males to couch such in coded language is even more offensive.

Poltroon is a GREAT word... Right up there with Curmudgeon and Luddite and balderdash...

I honestly never did.

"Moo-LAH-TEY" sounds like the kind of thing an overeager frosh with a rose between his teeth says - I hadn't even considered that as a name source.

So true... It's so obvious that when that asshole judge said "I'm just thinking of the children" he was obviously meaning "I'm just thinking of this white woman getting banged by a black guy."

The funny thing is that this bit is actually rather consequent with why some wants to deny gay marriage as well...

Yeah. Why we're still fighting for gay marriage 46 years later is absolutely beyond me.

In fact, backlash from this might be good publicity for the gay marriage movement if it gets picked up by the right people.

I'm not a racist.

When I saw this on Lederhosen's LJ, I honestly had to go to the article to make sure it wasn't something from 1965. This just doesn't belong in this era. It didn't back then, either, but THE SUPREME COURT HAS RULED ON THIS.

My comment was that I wanted to beat this judge over the head with Volume 388 of the United States Reports.

(The very first case in that volume, 388 U.S. 1, is Loving v. Virginia.)

One almost wishes for an accident involving him and his grandfather, except a) there's the potential of that destroying the entire known universe, and b) there is a chance his grandfather was a decent man who would have been cuffing him around the head for this kind of behaviour.

This is really sad. The mixed race biker couple I grew up across the street from had made the decision not to have kids, when they married. The justification they gave my sister and I was they felt that the children would be poorly treated by both black and white communities. I find it sad someone is citing the same theory now, thirty years later.
