And it turns out the rodents needs that too. Studies on rats indicate the petting (or 'mothering') improves growth and cognition in infants. Thus, not handling infant mammals because you want them to grow up wild results in small, dull and nervous weanlings.

That is a juvenile Tamias striatus, a frequent resident of the eastern deciduous forests.

Or, to put it another way:

You've been putting so much cute up lately, you are officially my 'anger management coach'. I can't get angry at anyone after looking at these!
(And they've been trying piss me off lately!)

This.

Except in my case my hands are always really cold, so I want to put it on my tummy.

It would also fit really nicely into a bra, which was the favorite place in the world for my baby mice to nap. Which occasionally led to some surprised dates when I forgot about the snoozing mouselets.

Coming from you, that's really no surprise. Of course, finding sleeping mouselets in the bra of someone I'm dating would just be nifty. But I'm funny like that. :-D

*snickers*

My smallest and most mischevious mouse preferred pants. Which led to a situation that went something like this:

Him: Oh, look at the cute widdle mousie baby! I want to hold mousie baby! *reaches out for mouse, who darts into his shirt*
Me: Um, I'm not sure it's a good idea. She's not a baby--just tiny--she's very very fast, she's smarter and more ambitious than your congressman, and she--
Him: *screams and begins hopping up and down clutching at privates*
Me: --really likes to hide inside people's underwear.

Well, that lets me off the hook, then. I haven't worn pants in ... mmm ... four or five years now. ;-)

Still, that *had* to be hilarious. *grins*

I told him if he hurt my mouse, it wouldn't be the mouse he'd need to protect his privates from.

We're still friends, though. But he doesn't much take his pants off around me.

I think Piglet would have been very delighted to get under your kilt anyway. She just liked being inside people's clothes. At least she was a snuggler and not a biter; worst she'd do was tickle. Unlike my smallest and most evil rat.
