The greatest rock`n'roll movie of all time is "Top Secret!"

Oh yes, this! (Or really, the first Bill and Ted movie was better.)

But what about The Wall, Empire Records, Sid & Nancy, Tommy, Grosse Point Blank (probably my #1) & other's I'm certain I've forgotten?

And then there's School of Rock, which was simply miserable in every way.

I am incensed that you had none of these movies on your lists: Heavy Metal, Rocky Horror Picture Show, or Howard the Duck.

The Wall almost made the list. Empire Records sucked, *real* biopics are generally unsuited, Tommy and Grosse Point Blank were not "rock and roll movies"

None of which are "rock and roll movies".

Heavy Metal comes closest, and the disjointed storytelling and lack of any real connection between the pieces mean it gets the "sex, drugs, and" but really loses out on the genuine Rock And Roll Movie Experience.

Cannibal: The Musical

It's not rock and roll, which is why I didn't put it in the blank box, but it's hilarious.

Blues Brothers. I don't care if it's not Rock and Roll, it's still better than any of those.

ETA: And Blues Brothers 2000 was a showcase of AWESOME.

But that's not Rock and Roll - it's Soul and Blues (and some jazz snuck in)

I would like to complain about this poll.

Our local film reviewer gave Blues Brothers 2000 a split review, which I don't think he's ever done for any other movie: Either one or five stars, depending on whether or not you're there for the music.

The line between jump blues, soul and rock is thin and blurry at best...and it is all technically 12 bar jazz. But I know we are all using the popular definition of rock. I just think that "The Commitments" holds up under repeated watching better than any of the others, even though I think "Spinal Tap" is a great film.
