That's why I have a shop-vac with a huge hose: to suck up those pests but let the cute ones escape unhurt.

Usually when I see those they've been impaled on the barbs by a loggerhead shrike.

I think it's just lucky it wasn't an electric fence. That picture would've been shocking, to say the least.
