Like most Republicans, the Senator seems to think that gay = having butseks. If you're not having butseks, you're not gay. If you're having butseks, you are gay. Soldiers shouldn't have butseks, so they can't be gay.

How can they possibly aim a gun at the enemy while having gay sex 24/7? It's crazy talk.

Well, now I'm confused! Does this mean that getting a tattoo turned me gay?

Or does it not count since I'm not in the military?

I admit, I had my suspicions about my boyfriend--do straight men really dance like that?--but I never suspected that my fondness for schnapps and my extensive body art would also render ME a lesbian!

Well, poo. Now I have to go buy sensible shoes.

The short on "prohibition" of tattoos on military personnel: tattoos that are covered by military clothing are, for the most part, permitted.

Was going to ask that, because I reckon British squaddies would riot if they were told they weren't allowed any.... They always seem to be drunk when I run into 'em, too. :/

Then I think we should allow butseks that is covered by clothing. "I'm gay, but mostly my penis, which you cannot see. "

I was thinking of asking you outright, in the original post, how long you think it would take before the first Shore Leave Mutiny(tm).

Because, really, "tattooed drunk" is just about the msot succinct description I can think of of every Navy guy I know personally.

The argument seems to be that, since military people have to put up with a lot of rules, no particular rule should be examined.

Well, yes. But his *examples* of rules "that exist" are flawed, because they don't exist. Which is very odd. And also very funny.

I was in the Navy.

Drinking is only prohibited on the job. That, and a hangover bad enough to keep you from working is considered "damaging government property" and is punishable.

Same for tattoos: if they don't show and don't get you hepatitis or something, they're fine.

Sunburns are technically prohibited, too, in the same way. Not so much prohibited, really, but a sort of "if you can't take care of yourself and get messed up enough to affect work, we have no sympathy."

If I remember correctly, visible hickeys are punishable because they can also be also considered damaging government property. People I know had hard asses for rank.

Okay, see, I don't care how you feel about DADT --

-- that's not true. I care, but I respect that everyone is entitled to an opinon --

-- but if you're going to support DADT. Publicly. From a position of elected authority. Please try not to do so with your head stuck up your own ass. Because DAMN.
