It's a wonder the cat can stand up. There's an evil trick you can play on your cat, which involved tying e.g. a dressing gown cord around their hips; this triggers the "I'm going through a narrow hole" instinct, and the cat promptly relaxes its hind legs, leaving it unable to stand as its legs defiantly stop working. This looks like it would trigger the same mechanism.
I suspect that's why it's sitting sort of funny. Although at least with our cats, both ends go flat and the cat belly-crawls until they can get the thing off.
Why yes, I do occasionally put a t-shirt on my cat when she's being really annoying, just to distract her for five minutes. I consider it just revenge for having a bored cat leap on my head from a bookshelf, AND she's "entertained" while she tries to figure out what just happened.
