I used to slide down stairs like that as a kid, not nearly as smoothly and hurt my legs a bit but was lots of fun.

I seriously doubt it's stop-motion, it looks far too fluid. Plus it's not too difficult to slide down stairs as the_trav mentioned, the skill comes in making it look so smooth. Probably took them a few goes. Simple idea, good execution.
