Hey, this case reminds me of an another case which got lots of attention...

Geez, maybe there's a pattern of this on US border!

Nobody will care until Canada starts doing it to incoming Americans.

Maybe Canadians should do that then?

Naaah. You guys are way too nice and polite for it. Wudda give a nice cup of tea, leave the hapless tourist alone into the room...

...and then you'd unleash the bull moose with headspikes.

Wacky hijinks ensue.

Right?

I actually have been detained on the way into Canada before.

(We sat in a lobby and stared at a ceiling for ten minutes, answered truthfully that we'd never been arrested, and were sent on our way. I never did find out what it was about.)

Well they didn't unleash the MOOSE so it was probably some kind of mixed up identity hijink. Or something.

Wacky hijinks ensue?

Canadian customs stole my batarang >=[ As I was leaving the country. They claimed it was a set of brass knuckles.

ended up with like 7-8 custom's agents, one of whom was like "it's a fucking batarang, let him keep it." as the giant checked bag I had was my "moving out of the damned country" bag and had like 5 game consoles, and various other intimidating on xray electronics in it.

Arizona, vindicated!

Shame on the boarder patrol and shame on WWOOF. Now I'm curious as to what the actual rules are about coming in to the US to work for room and board.

Working for room and board was all the rage before the civil war... it was called slavery. I don't remember the white massas complaining about the slaves stealing their jobs.

You know, the guards' behavior was bad enough; even if she didn't have the required documentation, there was no excuse for treating her that way. But...it's the responses to the story that make me sick. I swear that the pooled US IQ is dropping by the day.

"The intelligence of the creature known as a crowd, is the square root of the number of people in it." (Terry Pratchett, of course.)

I've stopped reading newspaper story comments for this very reason. In Seattle it's always the same twelve people arguing with each other anyway.

It's gotten so when I meet a nice DHS rep, I'm sort of stunned and don't know how to respond. And I'm from here...
