er, no, they're Coptic Christian fundies who have a whole host of religious reasons for having built up hate for Islam. I don't think that it's really fair to call them white supremacists. They're just anti-muslim fundamentalist christians. I don't think it's fair to their brand of prejudice to make them out to be racists in addition to their real wackjobbery.
This happens up north too. A Lebanese Christian coworker of mine was harassed for ages by an asshole in work who took to calling him The Terrorist, and my new boss assumed for a good six months or so that my Coptic Christian coworker was Muslim - the funny thing was that he was then blindsided in his 3rd or so conversation with my actual Muslim coworker, who is white and a late-in-life convert from Anglicanism.
