That is unfortunate. :( I was so hopeful when I read his blog. Although, come to think of it, the question evasion worthy of a politician in the comments was a red flag.
Sorry, but can I object to 'Christian (and hence bigot)'? Yes there are a lot of right-wing bible-bashing homophobic/racist idiots out there, but not every Christian is a bigot. Really.
I'm not going to CHANGE it - while there are non-bigots who claim to be Christian, I'm of the opinion that those people are inaccurately labelling themselves, because they're ignoring the defining characteristics of the religion and the primary message of the Bible.
We've got a group that claims certain things to be true and certain practices to be required for membership.
We then have a second group, who claim to be members of the first group, who claim the SAME THINGS to be true and who claim THE SAME PRACTICES to be required - and who then don't do those practices and act as if they don't believe those things.
BOTH GROUPS AGREE on the requirements to be a "Christian", but only group 1 actually does 'em. Group 2 doesn't do 'em, and claims to be Christians anyway despite it.
