I'm not as anti-religious as TWK is, as I think there are many good religious people who've just come to a conclusion I don't agree with.

However, this bullshit drives me out of my mind. It's an organized conspiracy to protect those who've been put in positions of power over the defenseless, who then abuse them. These are, primarily, kids who have been told if you don't listen to your priest you're going to fucking hell.

Probably my #1 complaint that's specific to the conservative movement in the US is how they shelter the religious right, who in turn shelter the Church and protect them from a pattern of assault on children.

I completely agree with Denis Leary's Lapsed Catholic church: 'If you so much as look at an altar boy funny... you stand naked in the middle of Times Square wearing a big neon sign that says 'I carry a torch, for kids who carry candles.'' (Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P381aIAiq_4))

There are tons of individual Catholics who make the world a better place, but as an organization these fuckers are all about protecting whatever power and privilege they can, especially if it's the power to fuck 12 year-olds.

Go on pope and your cronies, dig yourselves deeper...Every comment and defense they put up, puts them a little further into the muck and makes people back away and want to see them get soem justice just that little bit more.
I wait with anticipation what comes next.

*headdesk* The vileness of this whole thing stinks

I just can't believe that the Catholic church is this utterly clueless at PR. The way they've handled this from start to finish has been shameful and as much a scandal as the original abuse

I have an idea!

No mosque at ground zero? Fine, no Catholic Churches within 45 minutes of an elementary or middle school.

Sounds fair to me.
