At the start of the Charlie's Angels movie (which itself is an example of the above, but Drew Barrymore, so shut up) there was the self-referential joke of the movie version of TJ Hooker (if memory serves), and they'd make a movie out of any old shit.

I did not find it particularly funny. It was far too accurate to be funny. That it has been later vindicated is just depressing.

Now I'm just waiting on the live-action/CGI 3d bigscreen movie versions of Airwolf, Machine Men, Captain Planet and the Mysterious Cities of Gold.

Actually, I think I would really be excited to hear of that last.

There was a second Charlie's Angels movie, wasn't there. Fuck.

The Josie And The Pussycats movie was WAAAY smarter than it had any right to be.

(And then there was the "Alexandra, why are you even HERE?" "I was in the comic." "What?" exchange)

Du Jour means hygiene!

A great film, highly underrated.

I would watch the hell out of a Captain Planet movie, but only if they kept the green mullet.

And given that Battleship is being made into a movie as we speak (no, really (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1440129/)), I can only await Hula Hoop: the movie in 2014, followed quickly by the apocalypse.

I had heard they were making a Monopoly movie, but I hadn't heard about Battleship yet. I'd try to say something funny here, but nothing I could come up with is as absurd as what they're already doing.

Monopoly will probably be an epic tale of a young man's quest to build a real estate empire in order to win over the (overdeveloped yet undercharacterised) young woman of his lunchtime and regain his father's love and respect.

Battleship appears to be a military movie, involving a young man's quest to win sea battles in order to win over the young woman of his lunchtime and regain his father's love and respect.

Hula Hoop would be completely different: it would be a young woman's quest to wear very little and shimmy her hips, shedding her previously dowdy persona in order to outrage society and her parents (one of whom will, however, be secretly supportive), and win over the young man of her lunchtime.
