There was another one in the TV coverage, where a flood of 18-19 meters managed to become 80-90 meters due to a mishearing.

Not that 18-19 meters is small, mind.

This sounds like something from my hometown paper, which once proclaimed in giant lettering on the front page that a local teacher was under "Scrunity."

That's a typo. This is a three-orders-of-magnitude error in counting swine.

It is the sort of mistake they would make, though, knowing them. They wouldn't apologize, though, because they would never realize their error.

It was the headline. Seriously, they don't have a proof-reader at the Hooterville Gazette?

I am wondering, though, why any pigs were floating down the river, whether thirty or thirty thousand. It remains to be seen if pigs can fly, but can they swim?

Because the whole state was seriously flooded to within an inch of its life. Then there was a cat5 cyclone, which made it rain a bit more.

Ah-ha!

See, it doesn't say that in the correction. If you haven't read the article, but just the correction thing, you wouldn't know that, and you end up saying something stupid, like me.

Seriously, though, were the pigs still alive? Can they swim? I want to know these things.

What, we're not the centre of everyone's universe??? :) It was 'CQ' that made me realise, which is more than a bit obscure.

The internet suggests yes they can swim.
