I would point out that there is some kind of distortion within the picture itself; this can be easily seen if you scroll and compare the slope of the bottom line of squares with the slope of the top line of squares.

The lens isn't perfectly parallel to the surface, it's tilted a bit; the left side is a bit closer and the right is a bit further.
