Was talking about this case with a coworker the other day. Evidently the lady blew her case pretty well by deciding to represent herself and that went...poorly.

When I was in the Navy, a friend-and-Wiccan had to defend himself in formal proceedings in front of the CO because a sheet of paper with runes on it -- he'd been practicing his name -- got blown onto a shipmate's bunk by the air conditioning, and the shipmate filed charges that my friend was casting a spell on him.

We laughed, but he was theoretically at risk of serious punishment.

In addition to the "this is fucked up as hell discriminatory" I have to say I'm worried that a security agency is hiring people who have screaming meemies at the idea of hexes and spells.

This woman is part of a team that is supposed (HA!) to prevent threats to flights and airports - and she gets scared otehr a *gasp* Wiccan?
