First thing I did after appreciating the design was scan it with my phone to see if it decoded to anything.

Is the iphone ecosystem so blighted that a mere QR reader cannot be taken for granted?

Please don't make any judgements due to my post! I'm so far out of the techy loop nowadays that it wasn't very long ago that I didn't even know what the he'll a QR code WAS! At the very least, I'm not ashamed to admit that I thought the actual PAC-Man and ghosts would risk skewing things. They're still magic as far as I'm concerned.

Fair enough. I'll grant that QR codes went from nifty high-tech to workaday hum-drum rather quickly.

Also, You'll note that the Pac-Man assets are smaller than the smallest dot of the QR code, lack sharp corners, and are in color, and relatively light colors at that. All of this makes it easy for optical-recognition routines to filter out.
