I'm not so sure that applies these days. Although it does depend on who's writing Supes. But Marvel have the Hulk, the Sentry, etc. In terms of power level, they have their big hitters.

The Sentry is a not-terribly-well-disguised *parody* of Superman. Aside from him, though, none of the standard Marvel characters are omnipotent, and most of the standard DC ones are. This is one of the many reasons why, historically speaking, DC comics are boring.
