I'd love to try dog meat sometime, actually. It's one of the reasons I want to travel to SE Asia in the near future.

On a related topic, assholes are trying to make it illegal for me to eat cheval in Canada. The Star ran a sob story about it a couple months back. Argh.

Is it generally the case that predator meat generally tastes considerably less nommy than omnivore/herbivore meat?

Now where's my frying pan? It's BACON time!

Carnivore meat is bad for you. Vegetables are what food eats.

Carnivore meat is not quite as tasty and certainly not as nutritious, but I wouldn't call it bad for you. it's better for you than most of what people eat.

Moral of the story: eat puppies.

Really seems to be an argument in favor of eating dogs.

Yeah, do we know there's no dog bacon? I mean, gods don't generally go from puppy size to ~500 pounds the way hogs do, but now I'm wondering...

Tried both; pig is just more delicious in every form.

Advantages of dog: it eats everything (though not as much as pig) breeds like flies (same as pig) and, unlike pig, is small(er), docile, and very easy to keep. In an environment short of resources, it makes all the sense in the world to eat dogs. I say this as a crazy dog lady. I myself would never eat dog, but I dislike meat generally, and I recognise the practicality.

There is an extinct breed called the poi dog that was used in Hawaii for food. Referring to some of the other posters' remarks about not eating carnivores, it was fed poi. Reportedly it didn't have a heck of a lot of doglike personality; it was more like a very short canine cow.
