Does that mean if Yanks sing "God bless America" more, 9/11 will end up not have happened?

Most AFA statements can't be translated into non-stupid English without losing some of the meaning, but I think that's what he's getting at.

I don't even know the lyrics to God Bless America. I am objectively pro-terrorist.

I was stationed in Germany and one day I was excused from regular duty to go to an appointment. Since you technically aren't "off" in these situations, you're still wearing your uniform. Anywho, on my way to said appointment I was walking past the parade ground of another unit, some kind of ceremony, with a fence between me and the parade ground. I got about halfway along the fence when a sergeant came bolting up to me from behind and yelling at me to get at attention. Apparently they were playing God Bless America, which I didn't notice or recognize, at which you're supposed to stand at attention to until it's done playing. D'oh!

What? That's bullshit. If you're not in formation, you stand at attention for the National Anthem, To the Colors, Ruffles and Flourishes, Hail to the Chief, Reveille, Retreat, and the service songs. Maybe Taps, but I had one CO insist that wasn't the case.

Er, now that I think of it it might have been the National Anthem, but I still didn't recognize it.

Heh. One of the great parts of being a civilian now is that I can sit there and pick my nose during the National Anthem if I want and they can't do shit.

One wonders what he would think of the fact that it's traditional to sing "O, Canada" whenever we play a Canadian hockey team down here. They've got a lot of hockey teams. Surely there is some cumulative effect!

But... there was baseball played in 2001, and it was capped with the series play between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the New York Yankees.

Ohhhhhhhhhh.

I see. When evil tops the leagues, the magical protection fails. Gotch.

The loony's "point" is that: the week after 9/11 Major League Baseball converted the seventh inning stretch from the singing of 'Take Me Out To The Ballgame' to the singing of 'God Bless America.'

Hmm... Terrorist events are hard to analyse directly, because they're rare (in this context) and influenced by other factors, so we can't tell whether changing the song had any effect on them.

BUT, if this theory is true, then changing the song should have resulted in a measurable permanent decrease in the incidence of men taking their lady friends out to ball games. That would be far easier to measure.
