The alleged story behind it turned out to be a load of churnalistic bollocks (http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/reality-check-with-polly-curtis/2011/oct/20/monster-slipper-stunt) put about by a PR firm.
This should not, however, be read as an assertion that the picture itself is not awesome.
