Virginia Republican: "My opponent doesn't care about TEH TROUPZZ. He hates veterans! Here is a picture of a veteran that he hates!"
Her opponent: "My opponent apparently doesn't even know what an American vet *looks like*, because that dude in her posters is in a SOVIET uniform."

when the description is 'Virginian Republican' I'm not sure why you're blaming the gender...

Who needs "Virginia" when you've got "Republican" for explanation-of-idiocy power?

Though I have noticed that the women Republicans seem to like in politics are idiots or batshit insane, while the non-Republican women whom Republicans appear to hate the hardest are often noticeably intelligent for politicians (or even, in the case of Warren, for example, intelligent even when compared to non-politicians). The republicans seem to hate smart women opponents more -- or at least speak of them more vitriololically -- than men who oppose them, and pick women less intelligent than most male Republicans to elevate. It's like Republicans can't abide intelligent women or something.

This still doesn't support [livejournal.com profile] disgruntledgrrl's suggested that all women in politics are dumber than men in the same field, of course, even if I'm right.

Or like intelligent women won't join an anti-woman party.

It's the same reason why the most prominent non-white Republicans are Herman Cain and Alan Keyes: It takes stupidity to join a political party dedicated to your own destruction, and TRULY IMPRESSIVE stupidity to allow that party to promote you as their token.

What the hell is it with Loudoun County Repubs? They're the same people who thought zombiefying Obama on a Halloween invitation wasn't "hilarious" enough, he had to have a bullet hole in his head (http://www.balloon-juice.com/2011/10/31/virginia-gop-halloween-themed-email-featuring-zombie-obama-with-a-bullet-in-his-head/). Maybe this is the epicenter of GOPer stupidity. I so hope thay got a visit from the men in dark suits for that last one.

It's a county that for a really long time used to be primarily the homes of rich white people. Now that the DC sprawl and housing costs have gotten they way they have, a lot more lower income and not white people are moving out that way into the masses of townhome developments mushrooming up which seems to ramp up the batshittery.

The VA elections have been most amusing this year. The Tea Party/Republican challenger for our state Senate seat has been whining about her opponent running a "dirty campaign"... which appears to consist of quoting her accurately about her anti-abortion stance and such.

Granted, the medals suggest he's a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, so may deserve our thanks, but I very much doubt that the candidate is aware of that subtlety.
