Fat bat bear is also a fat Himalayan black bear, probably a grossly overweight pit-style exhibit bear. We had one of those once. He wouldn't eat properly -- he was brought up to expect high calorie snacks to rain down from the sky. Since the best snacks fall on those who sit on their rumps all day, his spine was injured in such a way that he couldn't walk straight. He died relatively young. Fun fact: the North American community has decided to leave the sustainable captive breeding of this species of bear to the European community, it's a sort of division of tasks between species survival plan organizations.
