Steam's gone into sale mode again. Fallout: New Vegas, the best Fallout game yet? $5. All the DLC, which is awesome stuff? Dirt cheap.

Additionally: LA Noire, Mass Effect 1+2, Dragon Age, and Portal 2, all 50% off.

Given the way they do these things, this is probably as cheap as New Vegas and LA Noire are going to get during this sale. It's possible that the others will get a 24-hour 75%+ off sale during the week, and possible they'll just stay this cheap the whole time.

Yeah, Portal 2 was 75% off yesterday, as were ME 1 & 2.

I missed that. I didn't know the sale started, yesterday.

Hmm, I wonder if I should have a look to see if the new Wine can run ME and Fallout by now.

Thanks for the heads up. There is some DLC that I was missing.

I've been playing New Vegas again since yesterday, despite being deep in the midst of Skyrim. It's this LJ's fault - the game only has to be mentioned for me to go, "hmm, haven't played that in a while," and go off the deep end. Am getting stuck into Old World Blues at the moment.

I got the everything-ever-by-Valve pack a couple months ago for $50.

Better than the first one?

Fallout 1 has not aged well. It's unplayable, and that's all interface.

Hmm, I dunno. I replayed 1/2 right before I didn't play Fallout 3, and found Fallout 1 very replayable, both game- and interface-wise. Sure, there were definite issues, but I didn't expect any different. I still hated Fallout 2 for its crappy intro, but it otherwise wasn't bad at all.

I can't stand how many things about the interface just don't work in a remotely sensible way. Fallout Tactics spoiled me for the isometric views.

All that being said: New Vegas is, I think, a better game than Fallout 1 even if you managed to make 1's "damn this game is OLD!" problems go away.

And for $5, you can check it out. I'd strongly recommend spending $16 and getting all the DLC packs, too, since they're a lot of fun.

Fallout really feels like a tech demo for the actual, finished, polished product of Fallout 2. Which was a far better game than 1 anyway.

Oh buddha, so many middling-reviewed indie games on my steam list that I will never play now. D:

Fallout Tactics spoiled me for the isometric views.

Hah, I tried the PC Tactics (which I understand is far far worse than the later console version) and hated every minute of it before I abandoned it.

And yeah, I've already purchased it, I just have to get the motivation up to play it and 3.

1 and 2 are better games, storywise.

Tactics has so many fewer "stupid interface problems" that I get annoyed dealing with 1 and 2.
