Yes, yes it is. :(

I have some sort of Mongolian Pork-Avian Death Snuffles and I'm feeling miserable to the core.

My condolences... I'm on the tail end of Throat Plague myself, which I think has been moving through the office given the emails I saw yesterday and certainly has been seen in local members of my LJ Friends list.

As one who two years ago had their "bronchitis" become a near-fatal pneumonia: Take care of that!

Yikes! That's exactly what I'm trying to stave off. Luckily, things seem to be improving now.

Glad you're okay. That must have been a horridly unpleasant experience, to say the least.

I didn't even know what it was - I just thought my Bronchitis had gotten severe. I took a cab 2 blocks to the hospital (because I couldn't walk it) and walked into the ER. They took one look at my heart rate and O2 levels and shipped me off to the cardio unit and kept me there for 3 days. I hadn't planned on anything; didn't have my cell phone with me, didn't have contact info, didn't bring anything to read or changes of clothes... Yeah, it was awful. I wanted out of there ASAP.

Thankfully, it was a bronchial pneumonia, and they cleared it up very quickly. But man, I never want to go through that again.

Yikes. Surprise diagnoses are always a blast, and by "blast" I mean "terrible experience". SURPRISE, YOU HAVE PNEUMONIA. Enjoy your stay.

Hope you stay healthy this winter!

(over the course of our comment thread, my bronchitis has mostly cleared up - hooray!)

gonna spend this New Year in Moscow.

mildly concerned that I'm about to discover how cold the world can be.
I also basically don't travel, so it'll be interesting to see how my immune system holds up [I don't take medication unless I absolutely, unavoidably have to. Which isn't often]

Unsolicited advise: be sure that your shots are up to date, and be aware of the fact that Russia has some interesting strains of TB, so make double-sure that your shots are up to date.

Seasonal flu jab won't hurt, either.

Unfortunately, TB shots don't work very well at preventing TB in adults. They're good against disseminated TB in children.
