The Iraq War is officially over: The last army soldiers have left.

According to the article, the US still has 7000 mercenaries in the country.

Taking your soldiers (who are, at least ostensibly, held responsible for their actions) and leaving your mercs seems pretty backward.

I am not honestly sure the mercs were actually employed by the USGov any more. They have also been taking local contracts.

Since the New Thing is for the US to be involved in at least two wars at the same time, I wonder who is next? Syria? Iran?

It won't be Iran (unless a non-Ron Paul GOP'er wins the election). They actually pose a threat militarily, or at least the IRGC does.
