He was a guest on The Nerdist: Year in Review on New Year's and it seems that, yes, he IS as much fun in person. What was funny is that Nerdist:YIR also had Wil Wheaton on and did an interview with David Tennant. I have got to start watching that.
I only listen to the Nerdist when people are on who I really like (like Mr. Fillian, or Mr. Gaiman, or Mr. Yankovic). The main host is annoying, his sub-hosts are annoying and sound like him, so while the non-guest shows are drek the interviews themselves are interesting as long as there's someone interesting involved.
Apparently the guys at Bungie Studios who worked with him had a blast... perhaps in part because Fillion is a huge Halo nerd (Halo was the cast game on the set of Firefly) who was visibly overjoyed to get a chance to play the next Halo game before it was released. (Or even finished, for that matter.)
