theweaselkingBaptist preacher kidnaps neighbour's cat, keeps it in a cage in the back of his truck without food or water for three days, is informed by animal control and police that this is NOT cool and look the thing is wearing a tag with the owner's name and address, give us that cat. Preacher tells them not to bother, those are his neighbours, he'll take the cat home and give it back. Police and animal control agree because they're apparently stupid and don't know what fundies are like.

I'm reminded of a tale I heard from someone whose Dad had been transferred from Bergstrom (Austin) AFB a couple of years later to the same base in southern California (George AFB) where my family was. He told of having attended a school in a suburb of Austin, where a disgruntled student had showed up one morning w' a machine gun, the full load of which he emptied into a teacher who had pissed him off. No other casual;ties, not a Columbine-like thing, and in '78 '79... The teacher just pissed him off, so he went home, loaded the machine gun and brought it to school the next day to express his displeasure.
Texas is Special.
Not just Fundies, but HEAVILY ARMED and terribly self-righteous Fundies are common there, in denominations not even heard of anywhere else.
I'd like to say the story you linked surprised me. It doesn't, not anymore. It's tragic, petty and mean, but 100% in keeping w' the Dominionistas' psychoses.
That little girl's world has just been tainted forever, and that's unforgivable.
