I guess this was a delete scene from Eraserhead? (obscure movie reference: the movie had scenes of a pencil making machine)
As a kid I enjoyed "Hot Dog" which showed how things were made, with great music! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_Dog_%28TV_series%29
Not long ago was "Made In America" celebrating the few remaining things actually manufactured in America. And "Dirty Jobs" which are often in foundries and factories.
