*waves little happy flag*

Sadly, I am pretty sure they will dredge 50000 signatures out from somewhere and put it on referandum November, and I will have many opportunities to rage.

As I've noted elsewhere, I'd really like some high court to step in and say, "No, you may not put civil rights to a public vote."

I think that would be a good thing, but I don't know enough about how the legal system interacts with the election rules in MD to be able to tell if it's possible here or not.

Heck with MD, I'd like to see it enshrined at SCOTUS level. (I'm not sure if that's actually constitutional, but I'd like it if it were.)

Unfortunately, the way I understand it, the recent California ruling on Prop 8 (which basically said just that) is written so narrowly so as to not be applicable to other states. I'm not sure what effect that narrowness would have nationally when it gets up to SCOTUS and hopefully is ruled the same way.
