He is Castiel, an angel of the Lord. He does not work for the FBI. (http://images2.fanpop.com/image/forum/38000/38508_1269511904338_full.jpg)

In the 3-up picture, he looked like Duncan MacLeod (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103442/). Haven't seen the show the guy is actually from.

(I can't find the animated .gif of that picture, with Dean flipping the badge for him.)

Kind of depends. If David Tenant is back that means that RTD is again writing the show and I've had quite enough of his shit, thank you very much.

Wot he said. I suspect it would be EPIC with an annoying reset button near the end of every series.

Eh. I don't watch "Supernatural", and the Holmes Improvement show is generating the same amount of enthusiasm.

Everyone who watches Supernatural thinks that angel dude is amazing, but I've never seen him cos I've never gotten more than a few episodes into the first season.. I keep meaning to try again and see if it gets better.

It does. Then it got stupid again in the fifth season and became unwatchable for over a year. I hear it's becoming watchable again now but hasn't yet returned to being good enough that it's worth watching through the shit to get to.

Notably, it's not exactly "good" at the moment, more "self-deprecating in a way that's hilariously watchable". It's not stupid any more, but it's more poking fun at itself and having a great time in the process than it is high drama.

(PS: Don't bother watching through. Just jump to the newer stuff.)

Supernatural is one of the worst failures of the Bechdel Test I have ever seen, but because it's The Castiel and Crowley Show (or has been for the last two seasons or so), I have put up with the utter lack of women doing much of anything. There were a couple of female characters that I and the boys had a lot of respect for but... well. =/

That is purely the fault of the fans. Or rather that rabid and vocal sub-minority that heaps a huge amount of hatred on any female character that might have a potential connection to either of 'their' boys and insists that character must DIE DIE DIE.

Admittedly, there is also fault on the producers for listening to said portion of the fan base, but what ya gonna do?

The writers of the show did fridge the mother *and* the girlfriend in the very first episode. They're not exactly perfectly blameless, even before fan contributions.

True... but both of those characters were going to die to set the tone... but after that.. It's mostly women like Jo, Ruby, the British Artifact stealer whose name I can never remember, Anna, Dean's 'wife', etc. The quickest route to being written out is to kiss one of the Winchester boys.
