Rather, symptoms of schizophrenia in non-schizophrenic patients (eg. delusions, hallucinations, paranoia)

I'd like to see a CSF culture of these patients. I haven't heard of bacterial meningitis being associated with these symptoms, but it's within the realm of belief and would explain the effectiveness of the antibiotic better than "mild anti-inflammatory properties" (or why wouldn't NSAIDS work just as well?)

I wondered the same thing, and this nearly fifteen year old study seems to support the NSAID angle for Alzheimers. Odd that it hasn't gotten more press given the relative ubiquity of NSAIDs.

Toxo is normally treated with antimalarials - there's a few antibiotics that help, but usually you have to use them in combinations with other antibiotics or other medications entirely. And that's only in the first week or two of flu symptoms; once it's encysted (and starts producing the really interesting effects) it's a big pain to treat.
