So, basically, HBO wants programming to only be available illegally?

I guess this is why I'm not running a huge corporation. Somehow that seems like bad business to me.

Well, HBO is one of the few reasons that I even have cable so if they mess it up and i can't see it on my TV I guess I'll be cancelling that service.

They also delay their iTunes releases in Canada for some similar money-hating reason. Game of Thrones was especially bad. Pirates everywhere watched it as it aired, I (a poor misguided fool who actually pays for things) got to watch it as Season 2 started airing.

My general theory is that I pay a premium on my media under the presumption that I pirate, therefore I am already paying for the right to pirate freely. And luckily the local courts agree with me!

I watch torrents, and buy DVDs when they come out. And then generally still watch the torrents, because DVDs are worse in just about every way, but that way I give money to the show creators. I've got *seasons* of DVDs still in plastic. I rewatched Deadwood and damn near pirated the whole goddamn show so I could stop having to swap DVDs and deal with the fucking menus and warnings and ads every 2 episodes.
