There was an effort underway about 4 or 5 years ago to breed these in aquarium conditions. I knew someone who had managed it, but was trying to refine it so that an experienced hobbyist (vs. "I have a lab to work in") could do it.
Lost contact with him,and I wonder how it went?
That said, I love those little guys. They are made of cute and squee.
I daresay they may be as closely related to cuttlefish as they are to squid. Sure they don't have a cuttlebone, but you don't see that W-shaped eye in anything but cuttlefish and, apparently, these lil guys.
