Follwoed by my bashing of any MUD that pretends to be a role playing game... no matter how much eye candy and pretty graphis you add.. it's still a MUD. Which is only one step better than the "chose your own adventure books with eye candy" (aka. Final Fantasy, etal.).
Followed by me not claiming that I believe the RPG part of MMORPG is necessarily true. It's a video game. There are too many limitations on it to be a true RPG, one of which John outlined below.
